New! Installation Tip: Chlorine Salt Generators

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

Chlorine salt generators are becoming more commonplace on both new and existing swimming pools as a replacement for traditional chlorination methods. If you are installing solar pool heating systems, chances are you have run across a salt generator in the field.

Some installers have asked us what the implications of salt generators are to solar pool collectors. The simple answer is: not much. All Aquatherm panels are manufactured of high quality polypropylene, a very inert material that is not bothered by traditional pool chemistry or the elevated salt content present with chlorine generators.

A good installation tip is to ensure that the solar pool heating system is installed after the chlorine generator. In many cases, this should make the install smoother, and more importantly, will elminate sending air through the salt generator when the solar system turns on.

New! New Prices Effective July 1, 2011

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

As you all know the cost of many items, especially plastic and copper, has risen over the past few months due the increasing price of oil and world commodity pricing on metals. We have held off passing through these increases until our stock of materials from the winter was finally depleted. We now have to finally raise prices on some of our items. The increases, which are effective immediately, cover all Goldline products (Controls, sensors, valves and actuators), all Aquatherm solar pool heating products (including Solar Industries and SunSwim solar pool heating panels), Rheem and SunEarth solar storage tanks (with and without heat exchangers) and many PVC products including pipe and fittings.

All pricing on the web site catalog has been updated, so please verify that you have correct pricing on items you commonly purchase from us. As soon as raw material prices start to decline, hopefully this Fall, we will pass those savings along to you.

New! Steca & SunReports Monitoring Options

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

Sun Source Energy Products is pleased to announce that the Steca Wireless Router (TK RW2) is now available as a special order item, part number MD-2000. The TK RW2 connects directly to a Steca 603 controller and will update a Kodak wireless picture frame (or equivalent) with the current system operating details. This makes for a great display for demonstration purposes, or for those customers looking for an attractive way to monitor system performace.

For a more comprehensive monitoring solution than the Steca router, we also now have available the SunReports Apollo1 and Apollo2 monitoring solutions. These units can work on any system, new or existing, and a Grundfos flow meter is required to realize their full potential. 5 years of SunReports monitoring service is included. Our supplier has negotiated attractive volume pricing, and we pass those savings on to you. See our part numbers MD-2100 and MD-2110.

Webstone Combination Valve Has Updated Casting

Sunday, May 01, 2011

Webstone has updated the casting of their #50613 combination valve (our part number PV-0055) by moving the ball valve so it is inline with the drain stem. This changes the functionality of the valve, as well as the closed loop system charging procedure.

We have updated our recommended charging procedure specifically for this fitting, and have included photos on proper valve orientation as well as handle positions for system charging.

The PDF of this updated document is now available in the library attachment section of PV-0055. We will also provide you with printed copies of these instructions as we have in the past.
